Mejia and Raymond Top-25; Spartans Sixth At WAC

Honolulu, Hawaii -- Top-25 finishes from freshman Aylin Mejia and senior Elizabeth Raymond helped San Jose State secure a sixth place result out of eight teams at the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championship in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 29.

Mejia finished the 5K course on Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in 19:28.8, good for 21st place and Raymond came in 24th with a time of 19:38.3.

"We're proud of the way our lineup ran today," said Spartans' head coach Augie Argabright. "I'm especially happy for Aylin and the seniors who worked hard and get to compete in regionals."

Senior Kate Lambdin will join Mejia and Raymond at the NCAA West Regional race on November 12 in Stanford, Calif. Lambdin came in 27th place on Saturday crossing the line at 19:44.7.

A sixth place finish at the WAC Chmapionship is the team's best since the 2008 season.

"Finishing ahead of where we were projected feels good and I'm proud of all the hard work the team put in this season."
