Women's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at WCC Championships

Crystal Springs, CA - The Saint Mary's College women's cross country team finished in fifth place at the West Coast Conference Championships behind Portland, Gonzaga, Pepperdine, and Santa Clara. The fifth place finish was big improvement from last years eighth place finish.

The women's team was led by WCC Freshman of the Year Allegra Porter. Porter finished in fifth place overall with a time of 19:01. She was followed by Megan Gebhardt, 24th in 20:24, Strada Morris, 34th in 20:42, Ashley Viens, 35th in 20:43, Bethany De More, 46th in 21:38, Jacqui Powell 48th in 22:07, and Danielle St. Clair 51st in 22:20.

Head Coach Randy Rau was very pleased with the teams effort on Saturday, and credits first year assistant coach Heather Wallace for the success of the women's team this season. The women will continue to train as they prepare for the NCAA women's regionals in two weeks at Fresno's Woodward Park on November 11. The race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
