The San Jose State men's and women's cross country teams will hit the ground running in their final regular season meet at the Bronco Invitational on October 16.
The Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University features a women's 5,000-meter race and a men's 8,000-meter race through Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif.
Joining the Spartans in the field: Stanford, Colorado, UCLA, Cal, Fresno State, Idaho State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Saint Mary's, San Diego and USF.
"This is the last competition we have before the conference championship," said San Jose State head coach Ron Davis. "That means this is a very important race for the athletes as we prepare for the big race at the end of the year."
The women's team is coming off a third place finish at the Crystal Springs Invitational on October 6. Rebecca Garcia led the Spartans that day running a 6,000-meter time of 23:02. Matthew Stephens led the men at Crystal Springs with an 8,000-meter time of 27:23.
The women's Open race begins this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by the men's Open at 10:30 a.m.
