Spartans 27th At Stanford Invitational

Stanford, Calif. -- The San Jose State women's cross country finished in 27th place out of 34 teams at the Stanford Invitational on September 29. 


Aylin Mejia crossed the finish line first for the Spartans in 105th place with a time of 22:50. Rebecca Garcia followed in 119th with a time of 23:02. 


Lalida Maokhamphiou (160th, 23:43), Alexandra Seda (188, 24:30) and Marissa Buckley (193, 24:41) rounded out the scorers for San Jose State.


Also competing for SJSU: Allison Kimura (215, 26:02) and Breanna Garcia (217, 26:09).


"I thought Aylin and Rebecca ran well and the entire team put in a good effort," said San Jose State head coach Ron Davis. "I thought we would be better today, but the athletes gave a great effort."


#6-ranked Stanford won the race with a team score of 25 and had four individuals in the top-five.


San Jose State's next race is the Crystal Springs Invitational in Belmont, Calif., on October 6.
