Women's cross country fifth at Aggie Invitational

DAVIS, Calif.----The San Jose State University women’s cross country team finished fifth out of 10 teams at the Aggie Invitational held in Davis on September 13.

The Spartans finished with a team score of 154. UC Davis won the race with 48 points, while Santa Clara and Chico State tied for second with 53 in the 5km race.

"Ashleigh Nebeker and Tiffany Hall ran a real good race," said head coach Augie Argabright. "We still have two girls have not been cleared to compete. We are missing Robyn Stevens, who was on the Deans’ List for University of Wisconsin, and Rebekah Harmer, a three time SJSU Scholar Athlete."

Ashleigh Nebeker was the top finisher for the Spartans placing 15th with a 19:03 time. Katie Lee, running for Chico State was first with an 18:19 clocking.

Tiffany Hall, Laurel Stender, and Valerie Weilert significantly improved their times since they last ran in the Bronco Invitational, which ultimately led the team to finish in the top-five.

"The team is looking forward to the Riverside competition next week. We are hoping to have all of our athletes," said Argabright.
