A busy weekend lies ahead for the San Jose State women's cross country team as they compete in the San Francisco State Invitational on September 14 followed by the Aztec Invitational on September 15 in San Diego, Calif.
The women's 6K-race through Golden Gate Park at the SF State Invitational will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The field consists of 186 women, representing 19 colleges and universities. San Jose State joins USF, Saint Mary's College and Santa Clara as Division I Bay Area representatives in the race.
Lourdes Amante, Hannah McClintock, Katie O'Connell, Jessica Ponce, Danielle Rode and Shelby Soladar make the lineup for the SF State Invite.
"This competition is a good opportunity for the runners to gain experience," said Spartans' head coach Ron Davis. "It's also a measuring point of the progress that we've made in practice this year."
The 68th Annual Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State begins Saturday September 15 at 8:00 a.m. PST.
San Jose State's lineup includes: Stephanie Cano, Marissa Buckley, Mallory Davenport, Breanna Garcia, Rebecca Garcia, Allison Kimura, Lalida Maokhamphiou, Aylin Mejia, Joanna Reyes, Alexandra Seda and Alexa Richter.
"This is a high-level competition," said Davis. "We put in hard work during the week to compete in a race like this one."
