Women's Cross Country 3rd Of 24 In Memphis Race

     The San Jose State women's cross country team finished third in the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tennessee on September 5.  Twenty-four teams from across the nation gathered at the Mike Ross Soccer Complex.

     Senior Nisha Richardson led the Spartans by posting a time of 19:04.26, giving her a 13th place overall finish.  Elizabeth Raymond was not far behind, as she finished 15th with a 19:10.09 time in the 5K event.

     Kate Lambdin finished the race for San Jose State  in 19:38.94, good for 30th. Nadya Bishton, a transfer from the University of Wisconsin, finished 34th in her Spartan debut with a time of 19:42.94.

     Suzanne Hancock (19:51.69) finished 40th to round out the five scorers for the Spartans.  Annaliza Rizo (20:04.12) finished 47th and Megan Arias (20:38.76) was 71st.

     Coach Augie Argabright was very proud of his team's performance. "This was one of our better performances since we started the Women's team in 1994."

     The women's cross country team returns to action on September 19, at the UC Riverside Invitational.
