Denver, Colo. – San Jose State University’s Tiffany Hall has been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s cross country “Athlete of the Week” for her victory at the USF Invitational on September 2.
Hall, a senior from Vacaville, Calif., won the individual 5K competition at the USF Invitational with a time of 17:37.90, her best time as a Spartan. The returning All-WAC runner won the race by over five seconds. Head coach Augie Argabright believes that it was the fastest time for a Spartan female runner in his 13-year tenure.
Saturday’s victory was the third individual win in the past six races, and the sixth top-10 finish in the past seven races for the Spartan co-captain. With Hall’s record performance, the Spartans were able to beat out rival Santa Clara to take third place in the women’s team competition.
The Spartan women’s cross country team return to action this Saturday, September 9, at the Aggie Invitational in Davis, Calif., where they will try to improve upon their 2005 second place-finish.
