Women's Cross Country Sixth in Season-Opener

BELMONT, Calif.----The San Jose State University women’s cross country team finished sixth out of 10 teams at the Bronco Invitational held at the Crystal Springs Course on August 30.

The Spartans finished with a team score of 146. Stanford, which had the meet's top four finishers, won the race with 17 points, while Santa Clara placed second with 54 in the 5km race.

"The team ran pretty well," said head coach Augie Argabright. "We ran without two of our main runners, (Rebekah) Harmer and (Robyn) Stevens, who have not been cleared yet."

Ashleigh Nebeker was the top finisher for the Spartans placing 11th with an 18:59 time. San Jose State’s second and third runners, Janet Yiu and Tiffany Hall, placed 21st and 28th, respectively. Sara Bei, running for Stanford was first with an 18:03 clocking.

"I was particularly impressed with Nebeker, Yiu, and Hall," said Argabright.
