Women's cross country goes 1-2-5 in 5,000 meters at USF Invitational

San Francisco, Calif.-----Senior-to-be Tiffany Hall and junior-to-be Erica Sahli finished 1-2, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run at the USF Invitational track and field meet held at Kezar Stadium on April 29.

Hall posted a 17:28.35 time on the Kezar Stadium track the best ever by a Spartan for the distance in a track and field environment. Sahli also broke the 18:00-mark with a clocking of 17:34.19. No other runner in the 19-entry field posted a time better than 18:00.

Five Spartans finished in the top-10. Juniors-to-be Heather Laptalo was fifth, Marlene Elizalde was ninth and Allison Stiller was tenth. Laptalo’s time of 18:23.04 was more than 40 seconds better than her personal best for 5,000 meters on a track.

San Jose State returns to action in September when it embarks on its traditional cross country season.
