Women's Cross Country races in last meet of the season

STANFORD, Calif.-----The San Jose State University women’s cross country team placed 24th at the NCAA West Regionals, to finish the 2002 season.

The Spartans had a total team score of 607, placing 24th. Stanford won the meet with 24 points, Arizona State finished second with 70 and UCLA placed third with 82 points in the 6,000 meter race.

Senior Kim Nebeker was the top Spartan finisher, placing 93rd with a time of 24:01. Sophomore Ashleigh Nebeker placed 109th with a time of 24:16 and freshman Judy DeLong finished at 24:47 for 134th place.

"There definitely was a lot of tough competition," stated head coach Augie Argabright. "It is encouraging though because the entire team except for Kim will be returning next year and they will know what it takes to run in that level of competiton."
