Woodland, Calif.----- Seven members of the #7-nationally ranked San Jose State University women's water polo team were named to the 2014 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Team.

Starters Timi Molnar, Victoria Smith, Rae Lekness, Rachel Henry and Bianca Seyfert and key reserves Dani Styles and Alisa Argendexceeded the four selection criteria. The seven Spartans all had more than a cumulative 3.00 grade-point average, had sophomore standing or higher, were enrolled at San José State for at least two semesters and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games in their 20-13 record for 2014.

Henry, Argend (Ventura, Calif./Ventura HS), Molnar, Smith and Styles (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Dana Hills HS) are repeat honorees. Henry (Santa Cruz, Calif./Soquel HS), a senior majoring in justice studies, earned her third Academic All-MPSF award.

For the second year in a row, Molnar (Budapest, Hungary) had the second highest cumulative grade-point average among the 40 MPSF women's water polo student-athletes recognized for academic success. The San Jose State Dean's List award winner, team co-captain and second-team All-MPSF selection had a 3.683 grade-point average when nominations were submitted.

Lekness (Calgary, Alberta), Molnar, Smith (Vancouver, B.C.), Seyfert and Henry were five of the team's top-six goal scorers inn the Spartans' record-breaking, single-season scoring total of 393 goals.

The MPSF announcement is the latest indicator of the team's continuing academic success. Earlier in the month, the NCAA published the women's water polo team matched its all-time best Academic Progress Rate score of 989 (out of 1,000).
