Water Polo's Harberts Earns All-MPSF Honors

Woodland, Calif. Senior Beth Harberts of the San Jose State University water polo team was named to the 2007 All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Second-Team as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, April 24.

Harberts is a co-captain of this year’s squad and is a team leader in and out of the water. The two-meter attacker tallied 32 goals in the regular season, third best on this year's team. Heading into the 2007 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament, she is 10th among all-time career goal-scorers at San Jose State.

"The honor is very well deserved. Beth is the primary leader on our team. Whether she is playing on the perimeter or at 2-meters, everything goes through her on offense and defense. This recognition should mean a tremendous amount to her," said San Jose State coach Lou Tully.

Out of the water, Harberts is a three-time San Jose State University “Scholar-Athlete” and was also a 2006 Academic All-MPSF honoree.

Harberts, and the rest of the Spartan squad, will be competing in the MPSF Tournament Championship this weekend. The Spartans are seeded sixth in the tournament and will begin championship play on Thursday, April 26 against 11th-seeded Cal State Northridge.
