MPSF - Adriana Vogt Again

Woodland, Calif.-----For the second time this season, San Jose State University co-captain Adriana Vogt was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Women's Water Polo Player of the Week.

Vogt became the first player in 10 years to score six goals in a game against the University of Southern California in the Spartans' 13-10 loss on April 16 at the Trojans' McDonald Swim Stadium. Brenda Villa, a three-time U.S. Olympic team member who played for Stanford, was the last USC opponent to score six times in a match when the Cardinal beat the Trojans, 13-12, on February 26, 2001.

Vogt, a senior from Menlo Park, Calif. (Sacred Heart Prep), scored three times in the first quarter alone as San Jose State and USC left the pool tied 5-5 at halftime.

In the match, she became just the third Spartan in history to score at least 70 goals in a season.

Now with 74 scores, Vogt and her teammates conclude the regular season, Friday, April 22, against #1-ranked and MPSF regular-season conference champion Stanford in a 6:00 p.m. match at the Avery Aquatic Center.
