#6-Water Polo Ends Regular Season At UC Davis

The San Jose State University women’s water polo team, ranked sixth nationally for the fourth week in a row, closes out the regular season at #10-UC Davis in a non-conference match, Saturday, April 18. Match time at the Schaal Aquatics Complex is noon.

The Spartans (18-12) return to action for the first time since April 5 when the team won three out of four matches at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara University.

The April 18 match will be the second meeting between the Spartans and the Aggies this season. UC Davis (21-8 before the April 17 match against Santa Clara) emerged with a 10-9 victory over San Jose State on February 1 in the NorCal Cup.

Winners of 10 of their last 11 matches, the 2009 Spartans are the highest scoring team in school history. San Jose State and UCLA are the only two schools in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with five players ranked in the top-25 in individual scoring. Juliet Moss (70 goals) and Dani Curran (61) are the first Spartan combo to each score at least 60 goals in a season. Tanya Torres needs three scores to give San Jose State three players with 50 or more goals. Adriana Vogt and Bridget McKee each have scored 39 times.

Ticket prices for Saturday’s match are $7.00 for general admission and $5.00 for those 65 and older. Children aged five and under are free. There is parking available (click here for directions) on the UC Davis campus, but visitors should expect considerable weekend traffic in conjunction with the UC Davis annual Picnic Day Open House festivities.
