Five Goal Third Lifts Water Polo Past Broncos

A five goal third-quarter effort propelled Spartan water polo past visiting Santa Clara, 10-7, Sunday afternoon at the Campus Aquatics Center. The non-conference victory improves San Jose State’s overall record to 13-12 on the season.

“It took us a little while to really get into a good offensive rhythm, but once we did I was pleased with our effort,” said head coach Lou Tully. “A also give a lot of credit to Santa Clara and their head coach (Keith Wilbur). Each time we play them gets tougher and tougher.”

Bridget McKee paced the Spartan scoring for the second consecutive game with a four-goal outing including a three-goal third period. McKee, a sophomore, scored seven of San Jose State’s 15 weekend goals.

Also adding a hat-trick Sunday was senior Beth Harberts. Adrianna Vogt, Brianna Lindsey and Jenni Peters added solo scores for the Spartans.

Senior goalie Kendra Adama was once again spectacular in the cage, recording 10 saves in her three quarters of action.
