Water Polo Cruises Past Long Beach

Adrianna Vogt and Bridget McKee each scored three times as San Jose State cruised past visiting Long Beach State, 8-5, at the Campus Aquatics Center. The Spartans improve to 11-10 overall while Long Beach falls to 9-11.

Juliet Moss started the scoring for the Spartans with her 36th goal of the season. Moss, playing in the two-meter spot, tipped a shot in off a Beth Harbert’s pass for a quick 1-0 lead. Brianna Lindsey added the second Spartan goal with a driving solo shot from the left side.

McKee opened second-quarter scoring with a driving shot after a pass from Kathryn Hannum. Hannum played a big part in keeping the Spartan lead intact with two field saves on a single Long Beach State possession, saving at least one goal in the series.

The teams exchanged goals in the third quarter with the Spartans keeping the lead. The fourth-quarter turned physical and the Spartans turned to Vogt on the offensive end. The freshman scored twice, ripping shots into the corner of the cage, during six-on-five advantage situations.

Kendra Adama continued her solid play in the cage with 11 saves, including several at point-blank range.
