#10-Spartans Host Pair Of Top-10 MPSF Opponents

Extending its winning ways to six out of the last seven matches, San Jose State University will be tested this weekend hosting nationally-ranked San Diego State and Arizona State in a pair of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) women's water polo matches. The San Diego State match on March 31 and the Arizona State contest on April 1 are at The Aquatics Center with a noon start time.

San Jose State (13-8, 1-3 MPSF) is coming its first win at Hawaii in 10 years following an 8-5 victory over the then-17th ranked Rainbow Wahine. Despite the win, the Spartans dropped one spot in the weekly national coaches' poll to tenth. Surprisingly, Hawaii, eighth in the eight-team MPSF moved up a spot to 16th nationally.

The Spartans seemingly have an invigorated defense. In their last two conference matches, opponents have found the cage just 12 times. Offensively, senior Dani Curran and junior Anna Natalizio rank among the top-10 conference scorers. Curran is seventh with 41 goals while Natalizio is tied for tenth.

San Diego State (17-7, 1-4 MPSF) is ranked eighth in the weekly poll and seeks to move up in the conference standings following an 8-6 loss to #5-California. Earlier this season, the Aztecs posted a 7-4 win over the Spartans at the UC Irvine Invitational. San Diego State goalkeeper Kelly Campoli leads the MPSF in saves per match with a 12.00 figure.

Arizona State (20-4, 2-2 MPSF) is enjoying its best season in years and is ranked fourth in this week's poll. The Sun Devils play at #2-ranked Stanford on March 31 before heading to San Jose State to complete weekend play. Arizona State's Alicia Brightwell is the conference's leading scorer with 54 goals.

Sunday's match is Senior Day. Katie Buzzetta, Curran, Natalie Jennings, Meagan Minson, Allie Stewart, Kelly Stewart and Ally Waasted will be recognized as the 2012 San Jose State seniors.
