#6-Spartans Now With Seven Wins In A Row

Tempe, Ariz.-----The San Jose State University women’s water polo team extended its season-long winning streak to seven with convincing victories over #9-ranked UC Irvine, 14-7, and Cal Baptist, 15-9, at the ASU Invitational hosted by Arizona State University.

    The Spartans (15-11), ranked sixth in the country, never trailed in either match and led from midway through the first quarter to the end of each contest.

    Dani Curran, with five, and Juliet Moss, with four scores, led the San Jose State attack in the day’s opening match against UC Irvine. Adriana Vogt added three goals; Tanya Torres, two; and Bridget McKee, one, also found the goal for the Spartans.

    Meagan Minson was credited with eight saves in goal for San Jose State.

    Torres matched her season-high of five goals and became the 11th player in school history to surpass the 100-goal mark in the afternoon triumph over Cal Baptist. She now has 104  scoers for the Spartans. Moss, who scored 17 times in the four ASU Invitational contests, notched her sixth consecutive multiple goal match with three.  Allie Stewart was another multiple goal scorer for the Spartans with two.

    Kelly Kennison and Lauren Lewis shared the goalkeeper duties. Kennsion started and made four saves. Lewis played the second half and was credited with a season-high six stops.

    San Jose State returns to action, Saturday, April 4, at the two-day Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara. The Spartans take on UC San Diego at 10:40 a.m. and Cal State San Bernardino at 4:00 p.m. on April 4. The next day, San Jose State faces Cal State Bakersfield and Loyola Marymount at 1:40 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
