Moving up in the national coaches’ poll, #9-ranked San Jose State University returns to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) women’s water polo action hosting #4-ranked UCLA, Friday, March 29. The top-10 ranked teams meet at The Aquatic Center on the San Jose State campus at 1:00 p.m.
The Spartans (10-7, 0-2 MPSF) are tied with Long Beach State for the ninth spot in the national poll after non-conference wins against Harvard and Santa Clara. San Jose State was alone in the tenth position in the three previous polls.
San Jose State hosts a UCLA team (19-3, 2-1 MPSF) that is in the midst of a modest three-match winning streak.
The two teams are meeting for the first time this season. San Jose State has two of the MPSF’s top-10 scorers in freshman Rae Lekness, fifth with a 2.35 goals per match average, and sophomore Timi Molnar, sixth at 2.12. UCLA counters with Emily Donohoe, tied for seventh at 2.09, and Rachel Fattal, 11at 1.82.
There is no admission charge and parking is available in the University’s 7th Street garage, one block from the pool.
