Adama, Harberts Key In Overtime Win

Every coach counts on their seniors for leadership and clutch performances when it counts. A pair of Spartan seniors lived up to that promise for head coach Lou Tully as Kendra Adama and Beth Harberts came up big when it counted, leading No. 9 San Jose State to a 10-9, overtime victory over No. 10 UC Davis at the Campus Aquatics Center.

Adama, steady in goal all day, was huge in overtime with three terrific saves of close-range Aggie shots. Harberts, who finished with a hat-trick, came up with the game-winner during the second overtime period with a rifle shot from the outside.

“Today was Kendra’s birthday and she really gave us all another reason to celebrate today,” said head coach Lou Tully. “Her saves in overtime were big-time plays when we needed them.

“And Beth was really good all-day. She’s been playing great lately and today was just another one of those games we are used to seeing from her.”

San Jose State also received goals from Bridget McKee (3), Adrianna Vogt (2), Juliet Moss (1) and Kathryn Hannum (1).

The Spartans improve to 10-9 overall while UC Davis falls to 13-8. Today’s game was a non-conference affair as the Spartans play in the MPSF and the Aggies are members of the WWPA.
