Winning Streak Up To Seven

San Diego, Calif.-----San Jose State University stretched its winning streak to seven with one-goal wins over Pacific and Princeton in the final day of the Aztec Invitational women's water polo tournament.

The #10-ranked Spartans (14-8) topped Pacific, 8-7, and Princeton, 9-8.

"We pulled it off and got it done," San Jose State head coach Lou Tully said about the four-match sweep that included a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference win over #9-San Diego State and a non-conference triumph over #16-Cal State Northridge on March 12.

"(Meagan) Minson did a great job in goal and Adriana (Vogt) had an absolutely wonderful weekend."

Vogt finished the Aztec Invitational scoring 15 goals, one in the Pacific (11-8) win and four more against Princeton to give her 54 on the season and a school-record 213 in her career.

"When I look to shoot, I credit my teammates for what happens. They create some subtle distractions," said Vogt, one of the team's co-captains, about her recent scoring binge. "I'm getting good passes and I'm not worried about where I put it (the shot). I just found more flow in my shots."

Vogt passed Juliet Moss, who had 206 goals, during the Cal State Northridge  victory on March 12.

"Juliet is some I looked up to. It's awesome and I'm honored to be put in the same category with someone I idolize," Vogt said about her record-setting career.

In the March 13 wins, Minson made 29 saves, 14 against Pacific and 15 in the Princeton victory.

Dani Curran nearly matched Vogt in the scoring column with 13 goals in the four Aztec Invitational matches. Curran assisted on Allie Stewart's game-winning goal against Princeton (8-6) with 0:02 left in the fourth quarter.

San Jose State has a March 16 home match against Harvard before its last long break of 12 days.
