Key MPSF Match & 3 Top-20 Teams For Water Polo

            With a three-match winning streak in hand, San Jose State University returns to action facing three top-20 ranked teams at the Aztec Invitational women's water polo tournament hosted by San Diego State.

            The two-day tournament begins Saturday, March 12 on the San Diego State campus.

            The #10-ranked Spartans (10-8, 0-2 MPSF) open with #9-San Diego State (10-7, 0-2 MPSF) in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match. The Aztecs are ranked ninth in the March 9 national coaches' poll after defeating #12-UC Irvine, 6-4, on March 6.

            San Jose State has the MPSF's co-scoring leaders in freshman Timi Molnar and senior Adriana Vogt. Both Spartans have 39 goals in 18 games. Vogt had her best weekend of the season at the UC Irvine Invitational pouring in 16 goals in four matches. The Spartan co-captain needs just nine goals to pass Juliet Moss as San Jose State's career scoring leader. Moss scored 206 goals in her four Spartan seasons.

            Junior Dani Curran is sixth in MPSF scoring this week with 33 goals.

            Meagan Minson who made 40 saves at the UC Irvine Invitational,  is third among MPSF goalkeepers averaging 9.82 saves per contest.

            Following the 10:45 a.m. conference match with San Diego State, the Spartans take on #16-Cal State Northridge (13-8)  at 5:00 p.m. San Jose State concludes its tournament action the next day against #20-Pacific (9-7) at 8:45 a.m. and unranked Princeton (6-4) at 4:15 p.m.
