Spartans Tangle With Top-Ranked Bruins

Beth Harberts scored twice to pace the Spartans, but it was the top-ranked UCLA women's water polo team winning, 15-5,  Sunday afternoon in an MPSF match at UCLA's Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. San Jose State moves to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in the MPSF. The Bruins improve to 20-0 overall and 6-0 in MPSF play. 

The match was close through the first period but a big second put UCLA out front for good. Bruins outscored the visiting Spartans, 6-1, in the second period to assume a 7-1 halftime lead. The lone Spartan goal came on a strike from Adrianna Vogt with three seconds to play in the second quarter.

San Jose received a pair of second-half goals from Harberts, along with solo shots from Juliet Moss and Bridget McKee.

San Jose State's Kendra Adama recorded nine saves in the cage.
