#7 Water Polo Defeats #14 San Diego State, 7-5

SAN JOSE, Calif.----Bridget McKee, and Adriana Vogt each had two goals as #7-San Jose State (10-8, 1-2 MPSF) defeated #14-San Diego State (10-6, 0-1 MPSF), 7-5 at the SJSU Aquatics Center on March 6.

The Spartans scored five goals in the second half after trailing, 4-2 at the midway point. Vogt was credited for two of those five, one of which was the go-ahead goal with 6:34 left in the fourth quarter.

"Even though we were down at the half, the team played like they knew everything was going to be ok, and I liked that," said San Jose State head coach Lou Tully.

Sophomore goalkeeper Meagan Minson had four saves in both the first and fourth quarters to help her achieve a season-high 13 saves in the game.

Less than one minute into the second half, Anna Natalizio scored the first of those five second half goals for San Jose State. Natalizio then went on to see her sister, Jenna, score the fifth and final goal for the opposing Aztecs.

Dani Curran, and Kathryn Hannum also found the back of the net for San Jose State. Curran scored on a penalty shot in the second quarter, and Hannum's goal made the score, 6-4, Spartans advantage in the fourth.

"This was a great win for us in a very important conference game," said the Spartans' head coach. "When you get into conference play, the only thing that matters is getting a win, and we did so today."

San Jose State welcomes UC Irvine (7-7) to the Aquatics Center tomorrow for a non-conference match beginning at 12:00 p.m.
