Cambridge, Mass.-----Eight players evenly distributed another double-digit attack as the San Jose State University women's water polo team completed a four-match sweep at the Harvard Invitational.
The #12-ranked Spartans (12-7) pulled away from Brown (7-5) in second half for a 13-6 victory and their fifth win in a row.
Allie Stewart, Anna Natalizio, Katie Buzzetta and freshmen Sydney Witt and Christina Kouvousis each scored twice for San Jose State. Kelly Stewart, Rachel Henry and Ally Waasted also scored for the Spartans.
"We were in control the whole time. I was pleased with our total team effort. We came here with the concept of winning the entire weekend," said San Jose State coach Lou Tully about the Brown victory.
At least seven players scored in each of the team's four Harvard Invitational matches. Natalizio, with eight; Allie Stewart, with seven, and Henry, with four were the three Spartans to score in each of the four matches. Dani Curran led San Jose State in scoring for the weekend with nine.
"This was a true team situation. The main thing for us is execute and play the way we should," Tully said about the team's first cross-country trip in its 15-season history.
Maddie Reardon took care of the goalkeeping duties and came up with nine saves against Brown.
"She played very well the whole weekend. It was a great experience for her," Tully said about his sophomore goalkeeper who was credited with 40 saves for the weekend.
