San Jose State University seeks a return to the win column when the #11-Spartans take on #9-Arizona State University in the first of four matches in the UC Irvine Invitational water polo tournament, February 26 & 27.
The Spartans (7-7) and the Sun Devils (2-4) face each other at Corona Del Mar High in Newport Beach, Calif., for the second time in three weeks. Arizona State topped San Jose State, 12-9, in first-day action at the Stanford Invitational on February 5.
The winner of the February 26, 10:15 a.m. match advances in the winners' bracket to face either #1-Stanford or Cal State Bakersfield later in the day.
Sixteen teams are entered in this year's UC Irvine Invitational. Mountain Pacific Sports Federation members Stanford (#1), Southern California (#2), UCLA (#3), California (#4), Hawaii (#5) and San Diego State (#7) are the other MPSF schools contending for the championship. #6-Loyola Marymount, #8-Michigan, #10-host UC Irvine, #12-Long Beach State, #13-Cal State Northridge, #15-UC Santa Barbara, #16-UC Davis and #17-UC Santa Barbara round out the field.

Freshman Timi Molnar remains the team's leading scorer with 31 goals and is third in scoring among Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) field players. Meagan Minson is second among MPSF goalkeepers averaging 9.46 saves per match.
