#8-Spartans Face #9-San Diego State At UCI Invite

For the fourth week in a row, San Jose State University takes on a top-10 ranked team when the Spartans open the UC Irvine Invitational women's water polo tournament with #9-San Diego State.

The non-conference contest takes place Saturday, February 25, at 9:15 a.m. on the UC Irvine campus.

The Spartans (6-5, 0-2 MPSF), ranked eighth nationally for the second consecutive week, are in the midst of a stretch of matches against  #1-ranked Stanford, twice; #4-ranked California, and #5-ranked Hawai'i.

San Diego State (8-2, 0-1 MPSF) finished third at the UC San Diego tournament last week after defeating Loyola Marymount, 8-7.

San Jose State hopes to get its offense going. In the last four matches, the Spartans only have 21 goals. Dani Curran continues to lead the team in scoring with 17 goals.

The 16 teams in the UC Irvine Invitational each play two matches on February 25 and two more on February 26. San Jose State is in a four-team pool with San Diego State, #1-Stanford and #19-UC San Diego. The winners face off in a 2:00 p.m. match on February 25 and the losers meet at 3:15 p.m. on February 25.
