San Jose State University opens its 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) women's water polo schedule at the University of California, Saturday, February 13, at the Spieker Aquatics Complex.
The first sprint takes place at 12:00 p.m.
The Spartans (7-4, 0-0 MPSF) are ranked 11th in the February 10 national coaches' poll after losing four matches at the Stanford Invitational.
California (9-1, 0-0 MPSF) is ranked third in the same poll and advanced to the championship game of the Stanford Invitational before losing to host and number-one ranked Stanford. The Golden Bears are second in the MPSF in scoring averaging 12.70 goals per match and tops in goals allowed with a 5.10 figure.
San Jose State is averaging 9.27 goals a match and allowing 7.18 per contest. The Spartans' Dani Curran is fourth in the MPSF in goals scored per match at 1.86 and has 12 for the season. Five players, Bridget McKee (15), Adriana Vogt (14), Anna Natalizio (13) and Ally Waasted (11) have scored at least 10 goals early in the season. Cal's Emily Csikos is the conference leader at 2.90 goals scored per match.
Goalkeepers Meagan Minson of San Jose State and Stephanie Peckham of Cal have similar goals against averages of 4.38 and 4.40, respectively.
