Stanford, Calif.-----The fifth-ranked San Jose State University women's water polo team could not get its offense going in the final day of the Stanford Invitational and lost to #1-Stanford, 11-6, and #10-Hawaii, 11-7.
Co-captain Allie Stewart scored four times in the two matches for the Spartans (6-3). Three of her goals came in the Hawaii match.
San Jose State trailed Hawaii, 7-6, heading into the fourth quarter, but could only manage one score against the Rainbow Wahine.
The Spartans opened the final day of tournament action against #1-Stanford. The Cardinal broke open a 2-2 first-quarter tie with four second-quarter scores and kept San Jose State scoreless in a quarter for just the second time this season.
San Jose State opens Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play, Saturday, February 11, when it gets a second chance in a week against Stanford. Match time at the Aquatic Center is 12:00 p.m.
