San Jose State is one of four unbeaten teams competing in the two-day Stanford Invitational women's water polo tournament. The February 4 & 5 eight-team tournament takes place at the Avery Aquatic Center and Baker Pool on the Stanford campus.
The number-five ranked Spartans (5-0) are in a round-robin pod with #1-ranked Stanford (2-0), #3-ranked USC (0-0) and #14-ranked UC Davis. Two of San Jose State's five wins this season came against UC Davis.
The Spartans open the tournament against USC at 9:40 a.m. and concludes first-day action against UC Davis at 2:45 p.m. San Jose State takes on host Stanford, Sunday, February 5, at 8:00 a.m. The Spartans wrap up their tournament participation with an afternoon match against either UCLA (3-0), Michigan, Hawaii or Cal (9-0).
Senior Dani Curran and sophomore Timi Molnar are the first two Spartans to reach double-figure scoring in the early season. Curran leads the team with 11 goals. Molnar is close behind with 10.
All-American goalkeeper Meagan Minson has a 6.44 goals against average entering the weekend.
