Spartans #5 In Preseason National Poll

Bridgeport, Pa.-----With three returning All-Americans and eight more letterwinners, San Jose State University was voted fifth in the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association preseason national poll.

            The Spartans finished 2011 ranked fifth in the final national poll after posting a 21-13 win-loss record and a fourth place finish at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament.

            Goalkeeper Meagan Minson, now a senior and the school record holder for saves in a season and in a career; senior Dani Curran, the first Spartan to score 50 or more goals in each of her first three seasons; and sophomore Timi Molnar, who burst on the scene as the MPSF Freshman of the Year with 69 goals in 2011, are the Spartans' three returning All-American players.

            San Jose State opens its 2012 season, Saturday, January 21, hosting the seven-team, two-day Spartan Invitational at The Aquatics Center. Besides San Jose State, #2-California, #16-UC Davis, #17-UC Santa Barbara, Pacific, Santa Clara and a Canadian traveling squad are participating. Each team will play twice daily.
