Spartans 6th In Water Polo Preseason National Poll

Bridgeport, Pa.-----With four returning starting field players and a number-one goalkeeper from the 2009 team that set a single-season school scoring record and won 20 matches, San Jose State University is ranked sixth in the Collegiate Water Polo Association national preseason poll.

            Head coach Lou Tully has 40-plus goal scorers Dani Curran (68), Adriana Vogt (50) and Bridget McKee (45) to lead the offensive charge. Senior Kathryn Hannum was one of the most reliable defenders on last year's squad. Sophomore Meagan Minson, sixth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation i(MPSF) n saves per match, returns as the Spartans top goalkeeper.

            The top eight teams in the poll all are MPSF members.

            The Spartans open the 2010 season, Saturday, January 23, at the two-day Michigan Kick-Off hosted by the University of Michigan. San Jose State faces Colorado State, #19-Indiana and UC San Diego. The team's first home match is a conference contest against #1-ranked Stanford, Saturday, February 20, at The Aquatics Center.
