San José, Calif.—Sara Hibbs, a 6-2 middle blocker/outside hitter from Orangevale, Calif., has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play volleyball at San José State University beginning with the 2014 season, as announced by Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo.
Hibbs is a three-year starter at Bella Vista High School. For the third consecutive season, she earned All-Capital Valley Conference honors. Her senior team finished second in the conference, while her junior year team reached the semifinals of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Sectional.
On the club side, Hibbs plays at the Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC), the same club that current Spartan Michaela Leonard played at before coming to San José State. Hibbs and the 17-Black team finished 22nd in the Open Division of the 2013 USVA Junior Nationals, while her 16-1 team finished fifth in the American Division at the 2012 USVA Junior Nationals.
“We are very excited to have Sara join our program next year,” said Crespo. “She brings athleticism and depth to our front row positions and is a strong student off the court.”
