Volleyball Signs High School Teammates

San Jose High school teammates Sarah McAtee, a 6-0 outside hitter, and Kylie Miraldi, a 6-1 middle blocker, have signed national Letters-of-Intent to play volleyball at San Jose State University, as announced by Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo.

Both come from the highly successful Nevada Union High School program in Grass Valley where the team is 43-4 this season. This year’s prep team is the top-seed in the Northern California Division I bracket. The Miners host the NorCal Championship match tomorrow night and play Homestead for the right to play the SoCal Champion in the CIF Division I State Championship this Saturday, December 1, at The Event Center.

McAtee is the two-time Sierra Foothill League Most Valuable Player and first team all-league selection. She was named the 2006 Sacramento Bee Player of the Year.

Miraldi was selected to the first team All-Sierra Foothill League. She led her team in kills with 17 against San Benito last Saturday night to help the Miners advance to the NorCal Championship.

The two also play for the Force Volleyball Club in Placerville. Their team advanced to the 2007 USA Volleyball Junior Olympics this past June.
