Volleyball Loses 3-0 At San Francisco In Final Match of 2008

San FranciscoIn her final match in a Spartan uniform, Colleen Burke led the Spartans in hitting, kills and blocks, but San Jose State fell to #24 San Francisco, 25-14, 25-23, 25-20, Tuesday evening.

Burke led the Spartan hitters with 10 kills as she hit .333 (10-2-24). She also had a team-best four blocks in the match.  Burke ends her Spartan career with 1,196 kills, the ninth-highest total in San Jose State history.  She is second all-time in hitting percentage at .314 and ranks in two blocking categories seventh in block assists with 281 and eighth in total blocks at 301.

In her final match at San Jose State, Kelly Crow led the team with 12 digs and added six kills, two blocks and a service ace.  Other seniors contributing included Nia Freeman who had four kills and three blocks and Brittany Collet who had two assists.

Others contributing for the Spartans included Emily Burke with 25 assists and four digs.  Brianna Amian recorded seven kills, two digs and a block, while Kylie Miraldi had three blocks and two kills.  Kristal Tsukano recorded seven digs, while Courtney Zellmer had four and Thao Pham with three.  Sarah McAtee had one kill and one dig in two sets played.

“Colleen had a great match tonight,” said San Jose State head coach Oscar Crespo.  “The seniors did a good job tonight against a very good team. We had a good season.  The team developed nicely and got better as the season progressed.”

San Jose State ends the season with a 13-18 overall record.
