Volleyball Swept On Senior Night

San Jose, Calif.-Hanah Blume led San Jose State with nine kills, but the Spartans fell to UTSA, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) Thursday night in the team's final Western Athletic Conference match of the season.

On Senior Night, Alex Akana, Krista Miller and Katie Turner each contributed in the Spartan effort.  Akana had a team-best three blocks and moved into ninth all-time on the San Jose State career block list with 283.  Miller had seven kills and nine digs, while Turner also had nine digs.

The Spartans hit just .196 for the match.  Samantha O'Connell was the hot hitter as she was hitting .455 in the second set before an ankle injury forced her to sidelines.  She had six kills on 11 attempts and just one error.  Sydney LaFollette came into the match and had four kills, two digs and a block assists.

These two teams will see each other in a matter of four days as the two will open up the 2012 WAC Tournament next Monday, November 19, at 12 p.m. CST.
