Las Cruces, N.M.-Alex Akana hit .333 and led the Spartans in kills as the San Jose State volleyball team played at New Mexico State. The Aggies won 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-21) Thursday night in a Western Athletic Conference match.
Akana led the team with 10 kills and hit .333 with 21 attempts and just three errors. She was also one of three players with two blocks in the match.
Mary Alice O'Reilly also hit .333 for the match with eight kills on 18 attempts and just two errors. She also had a solo block and a block assist.
Defensively, Kiely Pieper had a team-best 16 digs, and Hanah Blume added 10 digs and six kills.
San Jose State is now 12-13 overall and 8-7 in the WAC. The Spartans now travel to Denver for a Saturday match beginning at 5 p.m. MDT/4 p.m. PDT.
