Reno, Nev.-Alex Akana had her best hitting night of the season at Nevada Thursday evening for the San Jose State volleyball team. The Spartans fell to Nevada, 25-15, 25-17, 25-13.
Akana led all hitters at .636 as she led the team with eight kills on 11 attempts and just one hitting error. She added one dig on the night.
Kylie Miraldi added six kills and a block, while Taylor Japhet and Kristal Tsukano each had four kills. Tsukano and Katie Turner each had five digs. Caitlin Andrade added 21 assists, three digs and a team-best two service aces.
"We did not pass well this evening which affected our ability to run our offense," said San Jose State head coach Oscar Crespo. "Alex and Kylie had nice matches for us, but our serve-receive let us down. We did not get the ball to the middles as much as we wanted which can open up our offense on the outside."
San Jose State next plays at Fresno State this Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Live stats and audio will be available through the Bulldog web site at www.gobulldogs.com, while the Spartan web site will have a link to live stats as well.
