San Jose-In her second start of the year at setter, Asia Casino recorded her first double-double in her Spartan career with 29 assists and 13 digs, but San Jose State could not maintain leads in the first two sets and lost to Utah State, 25-22, 26-24, 25-18, Thursday night at Spartan Gym.

Casino tied both of her career highs with the 29 assists and 13 digs.  She added three kills, a service and a block assist in the match.

Hanah Blume led the Spartans with 12 kills and was one dig away from her sixth double-double of the season with nine digs.  She also had an assist and a block assist in the match.

San Jose State jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first set and maintained the lead until Utah State used a 13-7 run to take an 18-17 lead.  The Aggies led 20-18, but the Spartans tied the match at 21-21 on a Utah State service error.  However, the Spartans could not capitalize and Utah State won 25-22.

The second set featured 13 tied scores and three lead changes.  The two teams battled throughout the set and San Jose State took a 24-20 lead on a block from Akana and Amian.  However, an Aggie kill gave the momentum back to Utah State, and they then scored the next five points to win 26-24.

The Spartans finish out the month of October with a match against Nevada this Saturday night at 7 p.m., inside Spartan Gym.
