San Jose-Caitlin Andrade recorded her third double-double of the season, and Hanah Blume led the Spartans in hitting against Pacific in a 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 loss Tuesday night in a non-conference match at Spartan Gym.
Andrade recorded 35 assists and 15 digs in her third double-double of the year. She added three kills on eight attempts during the match.
Blume led the Spartans with 13 kills and hit a team-best .267 with 30 attempts and just five hitting errors. She added seven digs and an assist in the match.
Other Spartan hitters contributing in the match included Brianna Amian and Alex Akana who each recorded nine kills. Amian added 10 digs and block assist, while Akana had two digs and a block assist. Kylie Miraldi added seven kills, three digs and a block assist. Taylor Japhet led the team with two blocks, one solo and one assist, and had three kills.
"We played will offensively tonight and got good numbers from our attackers," said Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo. "We just need to get more production from another outside hitter for us to be more successful. Kylie, Hanah and Caitlin had a nice match for us tonight."
San Jose State had a 17-15 lead in the first set before Pacific scored four straight to take a 19-17 lead which theyheld the rest of the match. The Spartans tied the set at 19-19 and got within one at 24-23 on an Asia Casino service ace before the Tigers finished out the set.
The second set had 11 tied scores and three lead changes. The Spartans tied the match at 18-18 on a Miraldi match before Pacific scored four consecutive points to take a 22-18 lead and won the set 25-21.
In the final set, the Spartans tied the score twice, but Pacific never relinquished the lead after San Jose State tied the set at 13-13. The Tigers won the third set 25-19.
Other Spartans contributing in the match included Katie Turner with seven digs and three assists. Asia Casino added seven digs, one assist and one service ace. Courtney Zellmer added four digs off the bench.
The Spartans return home this Saturday for a Western Athletic Conference match against Fresno State beginning at 1 p.m., inside Spartan Gym.
