Volleyball Swept At #4 Hawaii

Honolulu-In their first appearances in front of family and friends in Hawaii, freshmen Caitlin Andrade and Alex Akana led the Spartans Friday night in a match at #4 Hawaii. The San Jose State volleyball team fell in straight sets to Hawaii, 25-12, 25-11, 25-

Andrade recorded her third consecutive double-double with 12 assists and 10 digs to go with four kills.  Akana had a team-high five kills and added a block.

Kristal Tsukano played in her final match as a Spartan in front of family and friends on the island of Oahu.  She recorded eight digs, three kills, one assist and one block.

Others contributing for San Jose state included Taylor Japhet with three kills and a dig.  Krista Miller and Kylie Miraldi each had two kills, while Sarah McAtee and Courtney Zellmer each recorded one kill.  Zellmer had six digs, followed by Thao Pham with five.  Asia Casino added four assists and a dig.

San Jose State returns home next week for the team's only three home matches of the month.  The Spartans host Sacramento State Tuesday evening in a non-conference match.  The team then hosts New Mexico State Thursday night and Louisiana Tech Saturday night.  All three matches begin at 7 p.m. in Spartan Gym, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets.

#4 Hawaii def. San Jose State- 25-12, 25-11, 25-17.
