Volleyball Sweeps Louisiana Tech

San JoseSan Jose State hit .336 for the match and recorded 49 kills in a three-set sweep of Louisiana Tech, 25-21, 25-16, 25-22, Saturday night in a Western Athletic Conference match at Spartan Gym.

Kelly Crow led all hitters with 17 kills and hit .630 for the match with 27 attempts and no hitting errors. She also recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 13 digs.

Kylie Miraldi hit .667 for the match with eight kills on 12 attempts and no hitting errors. Colleen Burke also had a perfect evening with eight kills on 15 attempts for a .533 hitting percentage. Brianna Amian and Nia Freeman each added seven kills in the victory.

In addition to the Spartans hitting percentage, the team also had a season-best 11 service aces. Colleen Burke led the team with five aces, including three in a row in the second set. Thao Pham added two service aces, while Crow, Courtney Zellmer, Emily Burke and Kristal Tsukano each added one ace.

“It feels good to win at home,” said San Jose State head coach Oscar Crespo. “I was very pleased with our effort from our middles (Colleen and Kylie). They are playing well, and I am happy with their output.

“Kelly was exceptional for us tonight on the floor. Her numbers are very good considering the block she faced every time she hit the ball.”

Others contributing in the win included Emily Burke with 30 assists and four digs. Zellmer had seven digs and an assist. Tsukano added nine digs, while Brittany Collet came off the bench and added nine assists and two digs.

San Jose State improves to 7-10 overall and 3-4 in the WAC. The team returns back to the road next week for two WAC matches. The team plays at Boise State on Thursday at 7 p.m., MDT, and at Idaho on Saturday at 7 p.m. PDT.
