San Jose-Kylie Miraldi hit .476, Savanah Leaf recorded a team-best 12 kills and Caitlin Andrade recorded 38 assists to lead the San Jose State volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 Western Athletic Conference win over Nevada at Spartan Gym Saturday night.
Miraldi had 10 kills on 21 attempts and recorded no hitting errors for her .476 average. She added a dig and a solo block during the match to help San Jose State (6-10-, 1-3) to its first WAC win of the year.
Leaf led the Spartans with her 12 kills on 33 attempts and just three errors for a .273 hitting percentage. She also had seven digs and a block assist for the match.
Andrade recorded 38 assists, six digs, one kill and one service ace in three sets played for San Jose State.
San Jose State had its best hitting night since the Hampton match as the team hit .336 for the match with just seven hitting errors in 116 attempts and 46 kills. Alex Akana and Taylor Japhet each added eight kills, while Krista Miller had five for the Spartans.
"This was a good win for us tonight," said Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo. "We did a very nice job hitting and not committing errors. I am pleased with the performances of our outsides who did a nice job and helped our middles with what they needed to do."
San Jose State returns home Tuesday night with a non-conference match against Sacramento State. First serve is set for 7 p.m., inside Spartan Gym, located on the corner Fourth and San Carlos Streets.
