Volleyball Falls In Three Sets To Aggies

Logan, Utah-For the second consecutive match, Caitlin Andrade recorded a double-double for the Spartan volleyball team, but San Jose State fell at Utah State, 25-18, 26-24, 25-14, Thursday night.

Andrade had 31 assists and 10 digs in the match.  She added two kills and a block assist.

Two Spartans recorded double-digit kills. Taylor Japhet led all hitters with 14 kills and hit .286 for the match.  She added a season-best seven digs, one assist and one block assist.  Kylie Miraldi added 10 kills, three digs and two blocks, one solo and one assist.

Other Spartans contributing included Courtney Zellmer, who returned after missing two matches due to an injury, had a team-best 15 digs plus two kills and two assists.  Kristal Tsukano recorded 12 digs, six kills and a block assist.  Alex Akana had four kills and two block assists.  Thao Pham had six dig and two assists, while Asia Casino tallied one kill and one dig.

"We are playing better every match," said San Jose State head coach Oscar Crespo.  "We just had too many hitting errors tonight to be successful.  We are starting to block and defend better.  We just need to serve-receive better to be able to run our offense more effectively.

"Taylor played well for us tonight and is getting better.  Kristal is doing well, and Kylie did another solid, fantastic job.  Also, having Courtney back in the lineup was great to see and her digging helped us tonight."
