Volleyball Falls To #7 Hawaii

San JoseKelly Crow led the Spartans with 10 kills, and Kristal Tsukano recorded 10 digs.  However, the San Jose State volleyball team fell to #7 Hawaii, 25-17, 25-20, 25-20, Monday night in a Western Athletic Conference match at Spartan Gym.

Crow had her team-high 10 kills on 31 attempts and added nine digs and a block.  Brianna Amian added eight kills and six digs, while Niki Clement recorded seven kills, six digs and two service aces.  Nia Freeman added five kills and hit .385 with an assist and a block.

“We are playing better than we had in past home matches,” said San Jose State head coach Oscar Crespo.  “We played hard and sustained our effort throughout the match.  We are going in a good direction and are playing as a team.”

Stephanie Ferrell led Hawaii with 10 kills on 17 attempts and hit .471 for the match.  Jamie Houston hit just .148 with nine kills on 27 attempts and five hitting errors. 

San Jose State continues at home this Thursday evening with a match against New Mexico State.  The team then hosts Louisiana Tech on Saturday, October 4.  Both matches begin at 7 p.m., in Spartan Gym.
