Volleyball Falls To Anteaters

San Diego-Taylor Japhet led the San Jose State volleyball team in kills, and seniors Kristal Tsukano and Thao Pham recorded double-digit digs in the Spartans match Friday night against #18 UC Irvine.  The Spartans lost 25-14, 25-21, 25-17, at the USD Invitational at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Japhet was the only Spartan player with double-figure kills at 10.  She added one block assist and one digs. 

Tsukano led the team with 13 digs.  She also had two kills and a service ace in the match.  Pham had 11 digs with one assist and one service ace.

Others contributing included Alex Akana with five kills, one dig and one block assist.  Kylie Miraldi led the Spartans in blocks with three block assists and had three kills and two digs.  Krista Miller came off the bench and had two block assists and a kill.  Courtney Zellmer recorded nine digs, four assist and two kills.  Caitlin Andrade had 17 assists, six digs and a kill.

The Spartans play host #23 San Diego Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the final match of the USD Invitational.
