Volleyball Victorious Against UC Riverside

San Jose-Hanah Blume recorded her first collegiate double-double and helped lead the San Jose State volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-16, 34-32 win over UC Riverside Friday night at the SJSU/SMC Tournament at Spartan Gym.

Blume led the team with 14 kills and added 13 digs in the win. She hit .229 for the match with 35 kill attempts and only six hitting errors.

"This was a good win for our team," said Blume. "We are young and still growing. Just this week, we got better with each of our three matches and know we still have farther to go. We had to work really hard as team during the match and knew we had to win in three."

After winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-16, the Spartans were extended in the third set with five match points before winning 34-32. The two teams tied the set 15 times and 10 lead changes including five Highlander set points. Blume put away the match with her 14th kill on the night.

"I think we came away with an understanding that details are important in the match," said Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo. "We were about staying in the moment during the match and not hesitating on the court. We pushed each other on the court and didn't give up. I am really pleased with our win tonight."
