Japhet, Leaf Record Double-Doubles Against Denver

Tempe, Ariz.-Taylor Japhet and Savanah Leaf each recorded double-doubles Saturday morning as the San Jose State volleyball team fell to Denver, 25-22, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19, at the ASU/Sheraton Classic.

Japhet led the team with 19 kills and added 10 digs for her first double-double of the season.  Leaf recorded her first double-double of her career with 11 kills and a team-high 14 digs in the match.  She also had two service aces, one block assist and one assist. 

Freshman Mary Alice O'Reilly made her Spartan debut in the match.  She came off the bench and hit .400 with five kills on 10 attempts and just one hitting error.  She also had her first collegiate block assist.

Others contributing included Kylie Miraldi with seven kills, three assists and three digs; Caitlin Andrade with 40 assists, seven digs and five kills; Brianna Amian with five kills and four digs off the bench; Krista Miller with seven digs, two aces and a kill; and Katie Turner with 11 digs and four assists.

San Jose State plays its final match of the ASU/Sheraton Classic tonight against host Arizona State at 7:30 p.m.  Live stats are available with a link on the Spartan website.
