Spartan Volleyball Signs Local Player With Familiar Last Name

San Jose, Calif.—Latahevai (Vai) Lousi, a 6-0 outside hitter from Washington High School in Fremont, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play volleyball at San José State University beginning with the 2016-17 school year, as announced by Spartan head coach Jolene Shepardson.

Louis was a first team All-Mission Valley Athlete League selection during her career.  She also competes on the Washington track and field team, as she is one of the best athletes in the area throwing the shot put and discus.

Lousi plays for the Encore Volleyball Club in Redwood City on the Navy 18-1 team.

If the Lousi last name sounds familiar, her older brother, Cedric, was a three-year letterwinner for the Spartan football team (2010, 11, 14).

“Vai is a fluid athlete whom we are proud to bring into our program.  She has a calm presence and a clear mind on the court.  Her coaches at Encore Volleyball Club, Ali Tyson and Ali Magner, have brought out the best in Vai, on the court and in her heart and mind.  We look forward to Vai brining her abilities and passion to our team,” said Shepardson.
